A cam buckle (this strap) tensions by pulling and releases by lifting a lever — it is the fastest manual buckle type and requires no extra clicks or knob manipulation. An over-center buckle uses a lever mechanism that creates a positive mechanical lock as you push the buckle closed — it applies more consistent holding force under load and is preferred by many operators for rear securement positions.
