What is a 4-point wheelchair tie-down system?

A 4-point tie-down uses four retractors or straps — two at the front and two at the rear of the wheelchair — to secure the chair to the vehicle floor. When combined with a lap and shoulder belt for the occupant, it meets federal ADA and WC18 securement standards for paratransit, NEMT, and school bus transport.

Is wheelchair securement required by law?

What is the difference between a manual and retractable wheelchair strap?

Manual straps are fixed-length webbing straps with a hook or loop connection — simple, affordable, and reliable. Retractable systems use a spring-loaded mechanism to automatically take up slack, making securement faster and reducing trip hazards from loose webbing. Electric retractors add powered retraction, ideal for operators or drivers with limited hand strength or mobility.

Quick connectors and a removable cover allow for faster maintenance and easier servicing. Screw terminals are easily removed for faster wire routing, and eliminates the need for any additional crimping or soldering.

HEAT TREATED STEEL

All components are made of high-grade steel with eco-friendly coating, and each component (except for base mounts) is specially treated to increase strength and durability, reduce entry channel warping, and to prevent corrosion.

SMALLER FOOTPRINT

The QLK features a castor interference with shortened cover reducing the size by by 1.5″ (38mm) over the QLK-100, eliminating any castor interference.

FLUSH SURFACE WITH TAPERED CHANNEL

Eliminates snags and gives users a full 3/16″ (5mm) of additional bolt clearance. The tapered channel guides the user in, making it easier to dock.

OVER-TORQUE PROTECTION

Prevents system lockup if the internal hardware is accidentally over-torqued.
